In this article we took out Tanjavur to highlight one its best recipes you might have ever tasted. “Rice bowl of Tamil Nadu” has its own traditional foods and food style. Here, I am going to show you how to prepare the famous “Thanjavur Mutton Fry”. The Preparation time should take around 12-15 minutes.

Chopped Mutton 1/2 Kg
Black pepper  2 Tsp
Chopped Onion  2Nos
Ginger Garlic paste  2 Tsp
Chilly powder  2 Tsp
Coriander powder  3 Tsp
Turmeric powder  1/2 Tsp
Salt as required
Oil  2 Tsp
Fennel seeds  1 Tsp
Bay Leaf  1 Piece
Grated Coconut  1/2 Cup
Water 2 Cups

Let’s start to prepare the Thanjavur Mutton Fry.

In a Pressure Cooker, add the Chopped motton,  Chopped onions, Ginger Garlic paste, Black pepper, Chilly powder, Coriander powder, Turmeric powder, Salt and 2 Cup of water and let it cook till two whistles. Keep a side, let the pressure get released from the cooker.

Heat oil in a Pan, add the fennel seeds. Once the seeds crackles, add the bay leaf and sauté a little. Now, add the cooked mutton mixture to the pan and add the graded coconut. Sauté until it gets dry. That’s all!

Top it up with little pepper to make the recipe spicy. The best part is, this recipe goes well with any of your favorite meal.
