Hello Chennai and people who miss the taste of traditional Chennai recipes, here is one for you. I have seen most people in Chennai started hating Chicken because of its side effects and the temperature in Chennai doesn’t favor Chicken. People have started switching to Fish, Mutton and Beef.

Let us see how to cook Chennai Mutton Thokku.

Chopped Mutton: 1/2 Kg
Black Peppercorns:  2 Tsp
Chopped Onion:  2Nos
Chopped Tomato:  2 Nos
Ginger Garlic paste:  2 Tsp
Chili Powder:  2 Tsp
Coriander powder:  3 Tsp
Turmeric powder:  1/2 Tsp
Oil:  2 Tsp
Fennel seeds:  1 Tsp
Bay Leaf:  1 Piece
Cinnamon: 1 piece
Water:  1 Glass
Lemon:  1/2
Coriander Leaves: 1 strip
Curry leaves: 1 strip
Salt to taste

Preparation (12-15minutes):
In a rice cooker, add the Chopped Mutton, Onions, Tomatoes, Ginger Garlic paste, Chili powder, Coriander powder, Turmeric powder, Black Peppercorns, Salt and 1 glass of water and let it whistle 3 times.

Turn off the cooker and let the Mutton to cook until the pressure is completely released from the cooker.
Heat oil in a pan and add the fennel seeds. Once the seeds crackles, add the Bay leaf, Cinnamon and Curry leaves, sauté a little.

Add the cooked mutton mixture to the pan, squeeze Lemon to it and mix well.

Serve it in a bowl and Garnish with Coriander leaf.
