Cooking Rice

Let us learn how to cook rice also known as white rice or plain rice. You can cook using a pressure cooker or even without a pressure cooker. If this is first time you are preparing rice then let us start cooking with a standard quantity. Hmmm… shall we cook rice for a single person for a single meal? Ok. Lets Start!

Ingredients Required:

Rice - 1 Glass (300gms)
Salt to taste
Water - 2 Glass

Take one glass of Rice; wash 2 to 3 times with clean water. Add 2 glass of water i.e. double the quantity of rice taken (use same measuring glass which you used to measure rice). Add salt to taste (optional).

Keep the rice bowl on stove, when water gets absorbed and have very less watery then reduce the stove flame, keep it on low flame and cover the bowl, steam cook for about 3 – 5 min.

If you are using pressure cooker then cook till you get 3 whistles.

White Rice is now ready.

Please note that all the items that we are teaching you to cook will be done using a pressure cooker. As this is the most economical method of cooking unless otherwise stated.However you can cook the same in open vessels also with a lid to close the contents while cooking, though this method will consume more fuel i.e. cooking gas and thus not really economical.
