How to cook Puffed Rice

Since we have mastered the art of cooking white rice, lets go onto preparing other dishes such as puffed rice which is easy and fast to cook.

Ingredients Required:
1 kg puffed rice
2 medium size onions chopped
3 nos. green chillies chopped
¼ tsp turmeric powder
¼ tsp Cumin seeds
¼ tsp Jeera seeds
5 to 6 curry leaves

Soak the puffed rice in water for 10 min.

Heat the cooking oil in a bowl on a medium flame for about 30 -45 secs till the oil gets heated. Next add the cumin seeds and mustard seeds into the oil.Once the seeds start popping, add the curry leaves, green chillies and the chopped onions into it. Now stir the mixture till the frying turns the onions into a light brown colour. Now add the turmeric powder and salt. Mix it well. Next squeeze the water out from the soaked puffed rice then add it to this mixture. Now mix it evenly and continue stirring it over a medium flame for 2 -3 mins.

Take it off the flame and garnish it with coriander as desired. Serving it along with mirchi bajji makes it a great combination.

Your puffed rice is now ready to serve for 1 person.
